The Blue Building and the Yellow Building are both on Sarantporo Street in Thessaloniki.In the middle of the street, like the middle of history, two preserved buildings ( Student Living Greece’s  Blue Building and Yellow Building ) , held hand in hand, stand tall and grand, proclaiming the plasticity and elegance of urban culture from the interwar period. They invite secret glances through rectangular windows and wrought iron railings, for stories with vaguely positioned Jewish and Muslim voices, well-guarded on their floors.Modern architectural structures carefully guard “immaterial” traces behind their impersonal façades: traces of economic transactions by Bulgarian bankers, maps of classified German war plans, intricate knots of young scouts, documents from the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, hidden youthful loves from the interwar period, and courtyards scented with basil, geraniums, and jasmine.
